hello there!
i am new to the forum and and new to kitesurfing, i can just about go upwind on my tiny TT and i ride a 13.5 kahoona+
first time i saw someone surf strapless i wanted to do it immediately, now my question is, should i wait a bit and keep practicing with my TT or can i go ahead and switch over to stapless?
or would i be prolonging the learning curve?
typical newbie questions i suppose lol
some background info:
im a skateboarder, snowboarder, windsurfer and snow skater so im usually ok with boards ; )
cheers,
Lukas

Hi mate
I'm no expert , only started strapless a month ago after riding a Tt for a year , I personally feel that although the learning curve to do tricks is way longer, riding strspless teaches you kite skills so much faster , I think once you comfortable doing basic jibes if you ever get back on a Tt you will have much more confidence
But as they say once you go strapless you will never go back
I haven't used my skim yet , still riding my celeritas
Just go for it , it's a game changer

hey saffa!
thx for your input : ) it is deinitely a game changer!
so i just went with my feeling on this one and got a skimboard 54" no fins no straps and took it out on a first ride yesterday
in about 15-17mph winds, i managed to water start both ways but keeping the edge seemed to get really tricky soon as then wind picked up a bit.
i was riding 13,5m kahoona+ and had to depower all the way in order to stay on the board.
the feeling of surfing the skimboard was amazing although i was yanked off more than a few times. I hope the learning curve will be fast and my advice to anyone out there who is just getting into this would be - bring a twin tip along just so you can throw it on and get a couple of good rides every once in a while just to lighten the spirits when it gets frustrating ; )
also, i took my fins off of my twin tip today as well just to get it to feel a bit more like my skim, no clue if thats gonna help but ill find out : )
ill try to post an update on my progress every once in a while!
see you around
