Saved by the woodie

This is the place to talk about riding styles, tricks, conditions, what works, what doesn't on your skimboard. Wondering about what skimboard to get for kiting? Post it all here.

Saved by the woodie

So I went down to the beach only to find the place crowded with out of town riders and noobs getting their first taste of good wind. The tide was out and there was about 1-2 inches of super flat water on the inside of the sandbar with little rocks here and there. Not wanting to damage the new board I grabbed the good old Victoria Woodie out of the car and had a blast for an hour. Since I was the only skimmer I had the whole place to myself, everyone else was out in deeper water. One kiter on a TT tried to come into my area but got stuck in the sand and face planted. The woodie is nice because it takes a hit from a rock much better than a regular board, just a scratch and not a hole. Once the tide came in I switched to my new Triple-X and went out for some waves.

I can picture it!
Clueless rider comes out to join in on your butter-session, and after planting, realizes he's been had!
~ You're not on a kiteboard!

Maybe tomorrow we can get a few more pics to share. 8)
Fingers crossed the forecast holds up!
