hi all

been looking at getting into strapless riding and others are getting surfboards so i thought id be different and get a skim

got a circle1 52" board, got a rear deck pad thing and some wax.

so my question is what now? just whack the pad on the back somewhere, wax it up a bit and go give it bash? or is there anything more scientific i need to do it first?

cheers

Hey Vaineh,

Welcome to Lose the Straps! Congrats on your new skimmer! A lot of fun awaits you... 8)

I really prefer the feel of a pad vs. wax so you should definitely put that pad on there. There is nothing really scientific about putting it on. If it is a peel and stick type just clean your board well first with glass cleaner or alcohol. Consider the location, you might want to use a marker or pencil to give a few guide points. Then just stick it on. That is all there is to it. You might want to look at some of the other skims here to get an idea for similar pad placement on your board:

After you ride your board for a few days you might find you like the wax or pad better. Then you can adjust your board based on your preferences. You can always add a front pad later, or you can remove the back pad and go full wax.

Please let me know if I can be of any other help.
