Course Racing Wednesday Nights!

Postby patrickrynne » Wed Apr 01, 2009 11:12 pm

When: Every Wednesday Night, first gun at 6:30pm

Where: Out in front of Shake-A-Leg/Coral Reef YC/US Sailing Center

Why: Course racing is absolutely epic!

How: Kite + Board + Wind = Fun

Tips: Hydrate before coming out, bring as fast a board as you can find (twinzers and quad fish surfboards seem to be doing just fine), I think skims could be doible too, and BRING A WATCH if you want good starts

Straps: In the bay, its so flat that you can get away with being strapless!

Launch Points - Matheson (5 miles or so....i would recommend going in a group of at least two so if you return to matheson in the dark, you can land. The Causeway - be aware of getting your car locked in and ticketed after sunset.

Hey Patrick,

Good idea to post about the Summer races here in S FLA for all our local riders.

Its a lot of fun to go out and ride. It is a lot harder to go around a set course vs. riding. It really challenges your skills on many points of sail, and quickly finds your weaknesses. Overall, there is a lot to be learned and fun to be had by all. Its is also great way to build your strapless skills from a different perspective. Go out and give it a try!
