2009 Cabrinha S-Quad 6'1" vs 2009 Slingshot SST Quad 6'2"

Looking for input from an intermediate to advanced rider who can compare the
2009 Cabrinha S-Quad to the 2009 Slingshot SST Quad from
experience riding both boards. There are a few demo days coming up but not
sure I will be able to make them. Thanks.

Could throw in Jimmy Lewis Chamber Kite Board 6'1" too.

Okay, so im obviously a cabrinha guy so im gonna be as unbiased as i can.
These boards are VERY different.
The 6'1 cabrinha has a fuller, round tail and a bit fuller nose. Overall it will be faster in the flat spots, looser, and will ride in the lighter winds a little better.
The SST has a more pulled in tail and more nose rocker. It will be better in steeper, faster waves, and really grind in when you want it too, but wont be as good in lighter stuff.
The chamber i would only go for if you get a good deal on it.

It all really depends if you want a board for steeper waves or more all around.

If I do find a good deal on the Chamber, what ride characteristics does it have?

I rode the 5'8 chamber (i think it was a 5'8)
and it was fine. Nothing special. But if you get a good deal, then you get a good deal.
I would try the other boards first though.
If you can spend the money it would be worth it.

I know you won't break the cabrinha.....because ive never broken one.
The SS i dont know...
The chamber will be the weakest.

I rode the 6'1" SQuad in Maui in Feb. and it is really nice in head high stuff. It was kinda bouncy out there and the board ate that stuff up. Normally, I like around a 5'7", but the 6'1" was just a lot smoother and carried better speed in the faster Maui stuff. I agree with Jon in that this board won't feel as nice going slow in the small stuff.

Thanks for the info. I was able to arrange a demo for the S-Quad and a purchase with return guarantee for the SST. Tried the boards on flat chop at Stevenson and in about 7' waves at Fort Stevens. I ended up picking the S-Quad and am enjoying the ride.

The 2009 S-Quad could use a little more deck reinforcement just ahead of the back foot pad. Made a few small heel marks there when riding strapless. Not a big deal, nothing broke. The 2010 may have changed.

Picked up some NSI board hooks for strapless training wheels, don't use them much any more. Sometimes use the front hook alone mounted with the hook facing to the tail when I need a little traction to jump over big rollers. The hooks can be cut with a knife and sanded if needed to fit the top of foot.

Liked both boards in the waves but the S-Quad had a little more wind rang on the low end.
