Flexlite / Surftech...

Are you killing it on your surfboard? Have a question about riding styles or a trick? What surfboards work, what doesn't. This is the place to talk about your surfboard gear.

Flexlite / Surftech...

Postby bat » Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:46 pm

Hi everyone,

As I've never own any board made on the Flexlite or surftech base, I'd like to know your opinion on these 2 technology for kitesurfing. The board I used to surf will not last longer and so I'm looking around for the different technology, trying to find something strong and light... :)

If anyone has experience with this, it would be nice !

I really like you forum btw !

Bye.

Bat,
Well.....
Flexlite is an great feeling board, but it cracks WAY too easily. Might as well be a standard poly 6 oz. glass.
Surftech has tufflite, which feels like shit, but holds up.
Surftech also makes TL2, which i think is pretty good.

Problem is that surftech doesnt make any board i really think is worthwhile.

I got one of these as a backup board for $300 backcountryoutlet.com (surftech stuff appears now and again)
http://beckersurf.com/surftech/102382?u ... roogledata

- designed for small waves but behind a kite has been super fun up to double over

not as beefy as my 5'5 Slingshot SRT - did manage to rip the fin box out hitting a sand bar that the Slingy board would have just blasted over

but for the price has been lots of fun

i was looking at surftech (tl2) for a while...so instead of surftech what you would recommend...like alternative construction and more durability surfboard for kiting...?

It all depends on your price range.
If you have the cash, you won't go wrong with the Cabrinha Skillit or a custom board
from someone like http://www.roguewave.com
If you would rather save the money you can get one of the fishy boards from Santa Cruz, they arent too awful and good price.

been a while since i was here last - sheer laziness!

i picked up a Rusty Piranha (5'8) from Real during their board blowout in the fall - REALLY liked the board.
i don't normally ride thrusters but loved how lively the tail was and how easy it was to bust loose.
it was made of "tufflite"

well after 3 sessions i tore it in half - i heel dented it on my first session and that's where it finally blew out.
i'm not hard on boards but this was my first "surf built" boards and i would never waste the money again.

i've been riding "kite" customs from Kazuma and RogueWave for years and i've never had a problem.
A little more pricey than the Piranha from real but def worth the money.

RIP Piranha,

Thanks everybody for the answers !

So for the past few months I've been riding with a wainman 5'8'' and a F-one fish 5'2'' and some other surfboards (no kite brands) that will definitly not last in time... and I have to say that I really liked the f-one in small/med waves but unfortunatly I've never tried it strapless and so I wonder if it's a good choice for progression in strapless freestyle... it's very light (compared to the waiman), looks stronger but still short !

I'm gonna go for it anyway, I can have a good deal... and I only have small waves here anyway so it should be ok :)

Bye!
