My suggestion would be either to get a used surfboard, a used skim board, or make your own skim board, unless you have the money to spend. Kite specific surf boards tend to be very expensive and I am not sure the boards are really worth the extra cost. Lately I have been riding a homemade wood board that I but together for about $30, I live in Japan where the prices on the materials is higher, a used Rousch skim that I got for $200, and a regular surf board that I got for $400 new. Total cost for three boards, $630, which is less than you will pay for 1 kite specific surf board like the Freewave.

Hi Doc1,

What type of strapless riding are you planning to do? Surf? Flatwater? Here are my recommendations:

Light wind flat water - Skimboard
Waves - surfboard
Skate tricks - wakeskate

Thanks.
