Question about a trick

Postby boris » Mon Jun 14, 2010 4:12 pm

Hi

I have a question about a trick preformed by Jon Modica in the video “A Work in Progress - Part 2” check out the link
http://www.vimeo.com/groups/22625/videos/7101385

My question is: How do I do the trick that is shown 27 seconds into the video. It’s the trick where Jon ollies the board turn it around in the air and land on it opposite so that he continues riding with the back end of the board in front - ???

Thanks a lot!
☺ Boris

What i want to know is how the trick at 2:30 (duck tack) is done soo smooth and effortlessly?! I've been beating the hell out of myself trying to get that one down. I ain't too clever, but I'm persistant with it.

Re: Question about a trick

Hey Boris,

Yes, I can explain it to you. It is similar to pop-shuvit except that you keep your feet moving with the board vs. a pop-shuvit where you let the board go 180 beneath your feet and then land on the board going the same direction. So in essence what you need to do to learn this trick is pop a small ollie and once you clear your fins push with your back foot and pull with your front front so that it throws the tail end of your board going forwards.

Now, a couple of pointers here, you should be comfortable riding tail first on your board. If you are not doing that yet I would start just riding tail first a bit and get that feeling before going hog wild and just poping it tail first. Or heck - just go hog wild and do it! 8)

When you do the trick properly you will land tail first with your old back now your new front foot. Also, when riding your board tail first try to keep your weight back a bit so that your fins do not work against you too much. Try working on that and let me know how it goes. Jon will probably also chime in with his insights.

Hope that helps.
